“Every ticket holder will have the dream of ‘crossing the finish line’ with a jackpot in hand,” said Pennsylvania Lottery Executive Director and Powerball® Product Group Chair Drew Svitko. “Like a well-tuned engine, these drawings rev up the wheels of fortune, benefiting those in their golden years here in our state, where every win adds a little extra fuel to the tank of life. Proceeds generated from ticket sales in Pennsylvania help seniors with free meals, transportation, prescription assistance, and rent and property tax rebates."

Here is how the NASCAR Powerball® Playoff™ will work:
- 45 semifinalists will be selected from all entries in the Pennsylvania Lottery’s drawings:
- 40 from the Second-Chance Drawing.
- Five from the Online Prize Drawing.
- Each of the 45 semifinalists will receive a cash prize of $2,000 from the PA Lottery.
- Those same 45 Pennsylvania Lottery semi-finalists will be entered for a chance to win a trip to NASCAR Championship Weekend™ for the opportunity to win $1 million.
- Then, 16 semi-finalists will be drawn from a pool from all participating U.S. Lotteries for a chance to advance to the Powerball® Playoff drawings, with no more than one semi-finalist per lottery advancing.
- The 16 semi-finalists will be announced during the Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway on Sunday, September 1.
- Those 16 semi-finalists will then go head-to-head in a series of drawings that will coincide with the elimination rounds of the NASCAR Playoffs.
- Four semi-finalists still in the playoffs after the fourth drawing will win a VIP trip to the NASCAR Championship Weekend™ at Phoenix Raceway, November 8-10, and advance as finalists to the $1 million drawing.
Cash prizes will be awarded to all 16 national semi-finalists based on their elimination position.
Including Pennsylvania, there are 27 U.S. lotteries participating in the NASCAR Powerball® Playoff promotion. Additional lotteries may choose to participate prior to the Powerball® Playoff drawings.
