Diving into Taiwan's quest for Indigenous integration in policymaking, this article sheds light on the challenges of reconciling traditional knowledge with existing frameworks. It questions the feasibility of mere integration and suggests transformative approaches like "braiding" or "weaving" Indigenous perspectives into policy. Focusing on long-term care for Indigenous elders, it critiques Taiwan's system for perpetuating colonial dynamics and failing to reflect Indigenous worldviews. By delving into the complexities, it urges a shift towards decolonizing methodologies and re-centering Indigenous epistemologies. Drawing on Tayal wisdom, it advocates holistic care, intertwining land, language, culture, and community. This insightful read underscores the importance of genuine pathways that elevate Indigenous knowledge systems, offering a blueprint for reconciling Indigenous and scientific ways of knowing. Check it out for an eye-opening perspective on Indigenous inclusion in policymaking!

Technology has been playing hard to safeguard our shared legacy. ➡️ Digital repositories ensure that heritage materials remain accessible even as physical copies deteriorate. ➡️ Analyzing large datasets helps researchers uncover patterns, understand cultural evolution, and make informed decisions regarding heritage conservation.➡️ Digital platforms host vast collections of historical documents, photographs, and manuscripts. Researchers, students, and enthusiasts can access these resources remotely, fostering global collaboration. The more we learn about history with technology, the easier it is to see how the past connects to important places and shapes our world today. This helps us understand the present, even the confusing parts and different stories people tell.---Every year on April 18th, we celebrate International Day for Monuments and Sites, also known as World Heritage Day. It's a worldwide event to honor the amazing cultural and natural places on UNESCO World Heritage List.#WorldHeritageDay #DigitalPreservation #TechForGood #Technology #Innovation

With Alliance of Environmentally Concerned Journalists to Save the Cileungsi River from Waste through a Cultural Approach.Cultureis a concept that encompasses thesocial behavior, institutions, andnormsfound inhumansocieties, as well as theknowledge, beliefs, arts, laws, customs, capabilities, andhabitsof the individuals in these groups. Culture is often originated from or attributed to a specific region or location. Humans acquire culture through thelearningprocesses ofenculturationandsocialization, which is shown by the diversity of cultures across societies. Acultural normcodifies acceptable conduct in society; it serves as a guideline for behavior, dress, language, and demeanor in a situation, which serves as a template for expectations in a social group. Accepting only amonoculturein a social group can bear risks, just as a single species can wither in the face of environmental change, for lack of functional responses to the change. Thus in military culture, valoris counted a typical behavior for an individual and duty, honor, and loyalty to the social group are counted as virtues or functional responses in thecontinuum of conflict. In the practice of religion, analogous attributes can be identified in a social group. Cultural change, or repositioning, is the reconstruction of a cultural concept of a society. Cultures are internally affected by both forces encouraging change and forces resisting change. Cultures are externally affected via contact between societies.Organizations likeUNESCOattempt to preserve culture and cultural heritage.#WasteHandling#SustainableCulture#Heritage

Cultural heritage is a human right.“Cultural heritage is a human right vital for people’s sense of identity and wellbeing, and for the vitality, stability, and resilience of their communities.”The protection of heritage and culture is imperative for a community’s mental health. So many communities have been displaced and then re-established. People are resilient and will make a home out of their new surroundings, sometimes adapting to local flavor and culture, and sometimes forming new culture based on shared, borrowed, and hybrid customs. It is central to creating a communal sense of belonging, and for our historic places to reflect the unique identities of its inhabitants past and present.“Heritage in all its forms must be preserved, enhanced, and handed on to future generations.” It manifests itself intangibly in our customs and culture. And it manifests itself tangibly in the built environment. How do you recognize your identity? How do you share identity with others in your community? In what places do you celebrate your heritage and culture, and how important is it to safeguard those places from external forces?#HumanRights #CulturalHeritage #HistoricPreservation #Belonging #Wellbeing #CommunityMentalHealth
