Initial results released for Missoula area Legislature races (2024)

Voters selected their final candidates in several competitive state House and Senate races in the Missoula area Tuesday night, with a handful of races still tight as tabulators continue to count ballots.

Missoula County held elections for four state Senate races and 13 House races. Senate Districts 48, 49 and 50 do not have an election. Roughly 30% of registered voters cast their ballot in the primary as of 9:55 p.m. on Tuesday.

Most of the candidates are running in different districts after the state redistricted all 100 House seats and all 50 Senate seats in 2023. There were no competitive local primaries for the county commissioner, clerk of district court, nor the three Missoula district court judges.
